Scott McConnell, sophomore golfer on the Episcopal Academy’s Varsity Golf Team receives the Jacques Houdry Golf Award.

The award, endowed by Jacques and his wife Dorothy, honors the varsity player who has exhibited the best knowledge and appreciation of the rules, qualities of sportsmanship, and etiquette, which are prerequisites to the game. Jacques is, himself, an accomplished golfer.  In 1946 he was the Philadelphia Junior Champion and a year later played number one on the undefeated Princeton golf team. Jacques won the title of Club Champion at the Merion Golf Club in 1948, 1949, 1952, 1956, and 1958.  While in his twenties, he qualified and played in a number of major tournaments including five National Amateurs and two U.S. Opens.

Well deserved Scotty, a wonderful award to receive!
